Advanced Certificate in Librarianship – NILIS – 2023
The National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS) is pleased to announce that applications are now open for its Advanced Certificate programs for 2023.
The Advanced Certificate in Librarianship (ACL) is offered in conformity with the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF) Level 02 and is aimed at facilitating the development of participants’ knowledge, attitudes, and skills relevant to librarianship. It also enables those who successfully complete the ACL to join one of the Diploma programs being conducted by the NILIS.
Target Group
For candidates with little or no prior knowledge in this discipline and/or have not undergone any prior formal training in an academic or professional library setting this course would be a stepping stone.
Entry Requirements
The minimum qualifications required to enter the course is
• GCE(O/L) (Old Syllabus): Passed six core subjects including medium language and mathematics and have credits (C) or higher grades for a minimum of (any) three subjects.
• GCE(O/L) (New Syllabus) (introduced in 2007): Passed six subjects including medium language and mathematics and have credits (C) or higher grades for a minimum of (any) three subjects.
• Above results can be achieved in two sittings.
• If these results are obtained in two sittings, the first results sheet must include passes in five core subjects including medium language and mathematics and must have credits (C) or higher grades for a minimum of (any) three subjects.
Medium of Instruction:
Sinhala OR Tamil (A program in any language will be conducted only if an adequate number of students have enrolled to study in that particular medium)
Mode of Study:
All classes will be conducted only in online mode until further notice.
Course Fees:
Rs.16,000/= which must be paid in a single instalment.
Applications close on 15th March 2023
Commencement of the Program: June 2023
